Since its humble start in 1944, the Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race has become one of the most prestigious ocean races in the world. Every year, hundreds of highly skilful men and women set off from Sydney to challenge themselves and the season a 628 nautical mile journey to Hobart.
The most spectacular moment is Boxing Day, where the maxi yachts vie with the local sailors in the race for the start line and to be the first out of Sydney Harbour.
The best way to catch the action close up is on an iconic Ferry from Circular Quay.
Don’t miss your chance to get a sailor’s view of the yachts as they cross the start line and sail out of the Harbour.
