Origin of Name: Named after Saint Mary MacKillop, Australia’s first saint.

Saint Mary MacKillop was an Australian nun who has been declared a saint by the Catholic Church. She was canonised in 2010, during a public ceremony in St Peter’s Square at the Vatican.

This is one of four SuperCat Class vessels that operate in the Harbour. They were purchased in 2000/01, and were built by Australian Defence Industries at Garden Island. Their names were chosen by winners of public competitions.
